LITERARY WORKS & NEW RELEASES

Exploring the Soul of the Written Word

I am a Chicago-based writer whose work spans historical fiction, theatre, and children’s literature. Across these forms, I am interested in the same central question: how ordinary people think, choose, and live with the consequences.

My historical novels focus on the human realities behind major events, bringing readers into the inner lives of individuals shaped by power, conflict, and circumstance. My plays explore similar themes through dialogue and performance, while my Lucas and Eddie children’s series translates those concerns into stories that help young readers understand emotions, behavior, and right and wrong.

Whether I am writing for adults or children, my work is grounded in the belief that stories can illuminate not only what happened, but why it mattered.

The Author

I was born in South Africa and lived in England and Ireland before settling in the United States, an international path that has shaped both my perspective and my writing. My early career was in business, where I spent more than two decades working in human resources transformation and consulting, advising global organizations on strategy, change management, and the development of high-performing teams.

That experience deeply informs my writing. I am drawn to the ways individuals navigate power, responsibility, and uncertainty, whether in the boardroom, on the battlefield, or in private life.

Today, I write historical fiction, theatre, and children’s literature. My novels, including The Eva Braun Diary and The Mud and the Crown, explore the inner lives of individuals caught in defining historical moments, examining themes of ambition, complicity, and consequence. My work for the stage reflects similar concerns through dialogue and performance, while my Lucas and Eddie series brings those same questions into stories that help young readers understand emotions, relationships, and right and wrong.

Outside of writing, I enjoy rugby, classical music, jazz, fine wines, and a good single malt Scotch—preferences that, like my work, tend to favor depth, character, and a certain respect for tradition.
